HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATIONS

Homeowner associations are legally powerful and there is a wide variance in their attitudes and effectiveness in making a community an enjoyable place to live. A dysfunctional or ineffective homeowner association can result in lower property values and create unnecessary difficulty in selling. Contrast, a strong homeowner association provides added value to real estate, eases the selling process and adds to the enjoyment of living in the community. Note, homeowner boards typically change annually, hence it's important to seek current information when investigating communities. This means that Homeowner Associations (HOA's) must continually engage in education and training of Board Members.
